Student group

From Duke Wiki

Student groups at Duke are most often Duke Student Government sanctioned groups that have the right to check out space on Duke's campus, make requests to the programming fund, and access OSAF accounts and privileges.

Groups fall into two official categories, those being recognized and chartered for the purposes of DSG sanction, each offering unique benefits and drawbacks.

Notably, some of the biggest or most prominent student activities at Duke take place outside of this structure. The Chronicle, The Duke University Union, and several community programs are either totally independent of the University, or departmentally-sponsored.

Nevertheless, the vast majority of student groups are DSG-sanctioned, and fall into several broad categories.
