Outdoor Activities
From Duke Wiki
Sprawling lawns abuzz with outdoor activities are among Duke's most defining features. A variety of sports, games, and events occur regularly outside the halls and classrooms of the University.
[edit] Ultimate Frisbee
Duke sports an avid Ultimate Frisbee culture. Quite often, freshman can be seen throwing frisbees the length of the East Campus lawns, regardless of the season.
Duke hosts both a men's and women's club team. The men's team is named Brimstone and their website can be found at http://www.mensultimate.imsports.duke.edu/ The women's team is Chakra and their website can be found at http://www.duke.edu/web/wultimate/
[edit] Bocce
Beginning in the spring semester 2006, a group of Italian language students began playing the sport of Bocce, also known as lawn bowling, to immerse themselves in Italian culture. Games could be seen daily on the lawns in front of The Chapel. Whether this will continue remains to be seen.
[edit] Al Buehler Trail
The Al Buehler Cross Country Trail, named after the former Duke men's cross country and track coach, is a three-mile dirt and gravel loop around the Washington Duke Golf Course that is popular with runners, walkers, and cyclists.
