Jarvis is home to approximately 90 first-year students on Duke's East Campus. Like all other halls on campus, Jarvis is co-ed. Jarvis is also home to a staff of one Graduate Assistant and four Resident Assistants under the supervision of Residence Coordinator Jennah Jones.

Jarvis residents enjoy a kitchen area, three study rooms, and a large common room. Laundry facilities are available in the basement.

Opened in 1914 the building was named after Thomas J. Jarvis, Governor of North Carolina from 1879-1885.

Jarvis is part of the East 2 Neighborhood along with Aycock, Epworth, Giles, and Wilson residence halls.
