[edit] Introduction
Located on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard right next to Foster's Market (a 5 to 10-minute drive from West Campus), Guglhupf Bakery and Pâtisserieis an European bakery and cafe. It began as a bakery in 1999, later expanding into its current configuration as bakery and cafe. Closed on Mondays, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and desserts from Tuesday to Saturday, with a special brunch menu on Sundays. The bakery is well known locally for its artisanal breads and pastries. A 2003 feature on the Food Network show "Food Find" put Guglhupf into the national spotlight, sparking a mail-order run on one of its house specialties, the German christmas bread stollen.
