Course software that manages class schedules, finances, and biographical information about students. (See also: ACES)

A basketball player, esp. Duke player.

[edit] BC

Nickname for the "Bryan Center" it is the student center at Duke. The name refers to the fact that the building could easily have been built in 2000 BC.

Four of Duke's sororities, they are Kappa, Pi Phi, Theta and TriDelt.

Famously crass blog about Duke, popularized during the Lacrosse scandal. The anonymous poster, later identified as Dan Belzer, rated and ranked sororities and famously fed the hype surrounding the Rolling Stone article which painted Duke as a fratastic party school which treated women like objects.

An event put on every Friday by the Engineering Student Government in Twinnies located in CIEMAS.

System of free printers distributed throughout Duke's campus. (Article: E-print)

File-sharing server circa 2005-2006 which propelled student Elliott Wolf the the Duke Student Government presidency.

Required allotment of special "dollars" which may only be spent on Duke's campus and for food delivery by Merchants on Points. Students can only retain half of these beyond the first 50 if they are left unspent, prompting massive end-of-semester spending sprees at establishments like the Washington Duke or as donations to such worthwhile causes as http://www.mckids.org

These are actual dollars which have been added to a Duke Card to facilitate payment through a flex-reader or laundry machine. Unlike foodpoints, these can be converted back into dollars at no cost.

Satisficing is a decision-making strategy which attempts to meet criteria for adequacy, rather than to identify an optimal solution. A satisficing strategy may often, in fact, be (near) optimal if the costs of the decision-making process itself, such as the cost of obtaining complete information, are considered in the outcome calculus. Shooters, a dive just south of the Duke campus. For Duke students, Shooters is usually the last stop on the bar-hopping circuit -- the place you go when you're almost too wasted to walk. It's a grimy spot with an L-shaped bar, some dance platforms, video screens, a few picnic tables and a white alabaster horse that rears on its hind legs under a sign that reads WILD, WILD WEST.
