Bicycling at Duke
From Duke Wiki
Duke is rapidly becoming a bicycle friendly campus. At "full speed," the route between East Campus and West Campus is reported to take about seven minutes. At a more leisurely pace, the route might take fifteen. Particularly given that the busses often idle at the bus circles for five minutes or more, biking across campus can be a faster alternative to riding the bus.
Difficulties with biking on campus:
- The destruction of the BC Walkway.
- The campus varies widely in elevation. The Chapel, which anchors the campus, also sits atop the point of greatest elevation.
- Overflowing bicycle racks beside the main entrances of Lilly Library and Bostock Library.
Prominent bikers on campus:
- Elliott Wolf, Duke Student Government President
- Mike Wolosin, spokesman for the Duke Bike Advocates
