Andy Longenecker

Andy Longenecker (B.S. 2007), is a senior triple-majoring in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and economics. He is the executive president of Engineering Student Government from 2006-2007. He is an A.B. Duke Scholar at Duke University, positioned to win the Rhodes Scholarship in 2006.
Longenecker, a member of the Engineering Honor Society Tau Beta Pi, served as President of the Engineering Junior Class in 2005, serves as representative to the Board of Trustees in Academic Affairs, and won a $5,000 scholarship from Kelly Engineering Resources’ Future Engineers Scholarship program. The company said Andy’s essay on how advancements in biomedical engineering and nanotechnology are changing the course of science earned him the educational award. Longenecker is also a Pratt Fellow researching Nonlinear Dynamics of Fluid Flow Around Bluff Bodies, for which he won an NC Space Grant. Longenecker is also a member of Delta Sigma Phi.
